Welcome back Coders and Families!
I was very happy to see everyone after our holiday break!
We are off to a creative start with several coding activities offered on 12 January. We are continuing to expand our coding knowledge by trying new functions and chaining functions together! Here are some details from our activities! I hope everyone had a great time!
Scratch Pet Party!
• We learned how to draw and code sprites using paint editor • How to use message blocks to trigger sounds and sprite reactions
• The tutorial has been emailed, if you'd like to practice!
Sphero Rocket Launch & Sphero Draw and Drive!
• We learned how to use events to trigger lights and sounds • We learned how to build custom strings
• We practiced using degrees, speed, duration, and movement commands
• The tutorial has been emailed, if you'd like to practice!
RockyBot Emoji Programming and Optical Sensory!
• We programmed custom emoji images, using display blocks. • We learned how to create events that trigger programmed emojis.
• Optical sensors were trained to identify colors using lights and audio responses!
• The tutorial has been emailed, if you'd like to practice!
Our GWC students are writing amazing code! The infrared sensors require conditional programming (if then statements), for example:
The “IF” itself (if detects color "blue")
The condition (flash blue light)
If the condition is met, run this code
This is quite exciting and shows impressive coding logic! EXCELLENT JOB!
See everyone on January 26th! ^__^
