Galaxy Obstacle Course and Event Blocks

ALoHa GWC Families! I hope you enjoyed the FUN coding session this morning! We coded event blocks to demonstrate cause and effect relationships using Scratch. We also used tactile coding to navigate robots through a galaxy obstacle course! There may have been wild unicorn cupcakes on the scene! ^__^~ Thanks to all of the parents for fostering a love of STEM in children and making the early morning drive! Thank you Coders for bringing great attitudes and creativity each week! Welcome to our newest Coders as well, we hope you find yourself among kids like yourself who love to learn, make things, break things, and have fun!

Here's a brief summary of today's activities!

Individual Coding Activity: Event-based programming using Scratch

Event based programming is programming in which the code is based on events. Events have their own attributes, called event attributes.

Today we learned to identify and use basic Scratch Events to Create and set variables!

Team Coding Activity: RockyBot and Sphero Obstacle Navigation

We love interactive coding with robots! Students worked cooperatively to navigate six robots through several obstacles contained within our galaxy maze! Creative solutions to tackling the terrain were developed and tested, illustrating the ingenuity of our young engineers!
