Aloha Coding Team (students, parents, awesome helpers!)
We had an amazing (and festive!) coding session this morning! Thank you all for bringing good energy today!
Today we had the following coding stations:
Kano Kits were built quickly and students were able to progress on their MineCraft modules!
Kano building strengthens understanding of tech hardware and software relationships, while practicing actual component assembly!
Sphero SPRK and Sphero Mini allows incorporation of physical movement with coding! Our robots were navigating obstacles, chasing one another, and maneuvering a maze designed by our students!
We continue to improve with our Harry Potter Kano wands, as the bluetooth functions tend to be finicky. Two teams successfully completed the FireWorks challenge!
In other robotics, we programmed RockyBot using the MakeBlock language! Similar to Scratch, MakeBlock uses drag-and-drop coding blocks to make coding easy! A tutorial using optical sensors was today's challenge, can RockyBot detect red or blue?
It's December, so we began coding holiday apps! Students enjoyed making "remixed" versions of holiday apps such as: Christmas Count Down, Merry Christmas Reindeer, and Custom SnowGlobes using Scratch! All apps are free and available on Scratch.mit.edu!
Our Holiday Apps!
Students really enjoy the "Make and Take" credit portion of the session! They get to showcase their code and creations! Great job this morning everyone! ^__^
We also voted for our Girls Who Code Club PARTY! Let's celebrate our efforts!
Dec 8th we will celebrate at SKYZONE, in New Garden, at 10:00AM! Siblings are welcome!
